The Talent Empowerment Department (TED) is responsible for supporting the Vision and Mission of Horizon University College (HUC) by formulating effective policies that foster a conducive work environment and promote a positive work and learning culture. TED plays a key role in enhancing the overall quality and performance of the institution.

The Talent Empowerment Department (TED) is primarily responsible for implementing the HR policies and procedures of Horizon University College (HUC) and managing the complete employee life cycle. TED oversees key human resource functions such as workforce planning, recruitment, development, motivation, and retention to ensure smooth operations in alignment with HUC’s strategic goals.

TED also manages a wide range of employee-related activities, including onboarding and orientation, relocation and settling-in support, training and development programs, payroll coordination, performance evaluations, and overall employee engagement initiatives.

To apply for a faculty position at HUC, please follow these steps:

• Visit the Horizon University homepage at www.hu.ac.ae and click on the Talent Empowerment Department (TED) link. Under the Careers section, you will find a listing of all vacant positions at HUC.
• Review the list of available positions. Once you identify the position you are interested in, submit an online application along with your resume and cover letter. You may apply for multiple positions simultaneously.
• After submitting your application online, you will receive an automatic confirmation email acknowledging receipt of your resume. If your qualifications match the requirements, the Talent Acquisition team will contact you regarding the next steps.
• Interested applicants should also send a cover letter and curriculum vitae, including the names of three references, to resume@hu.ac.ae. Please mention the position you are applying for in the email subject line.
• Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. Applicants who do not meet the specified criteria will not be shortlisted.

Selected faculty members undergo a six-month probationary period during which their performance is evaluated by the Faculty Feedback Review Committee (FFRC). This committee includes members of the University Council, comprising the President, Vice President of Institutional Research and Quality Assurance (VP-IRQA), Vice President of Academic Support Operations (VP-ASO), Vice President of Academic Operations (VP-AO), Director of Public Relations (DOPR), Director of Academic and Educational Innovation (DAEI), Registrar, Dean of School of Business (DEAN-SOB), Dean of School of Computing (DEAN-SOC), Director of Academic Engagement and Impact (DRI), and Head of General Education (HOGE).

Selected academic support staff undergo a six-month probationary period during which their performance is evaluated by a review panel. This panel includes the staff’s reporting manager, Head of Department (HOD), the Head-TED, the VP AO & the President.

After a successful and positive security check, the visa typically takes 5 to 7 working days to be issued. However, certain factors—such as a case ban, classified nationality, security concerns, or an active labour card—may cause delays beyond our control. Should any such issues arise, we will inform you promptly once we receive updates from the Ministry of Labour.

The following documents are required from faculty or staff members for processing the employment visa:

• Passport-size photograph (digital photo with a white background is preferred).
• Mother’s full name.
• Scanned colour copy of the passport valid for 6 months.
• Scanned copies of all educational certificates, including 10th Standard, 12th Standard, Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, and PhD certificates (all certificates should be accompanied by official transcripts).
• Completed Personal Details Form.

Attestation is the official verification of your highest qualification documents to ensure their authenticity. You are required to have your highest qualification attested by the following authorities:

• The Ministry of Higher Education of the country where you earned your degree.
• The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of that country.
• The UAE Embassy in the country where you earned your degree.
• The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
• UAE Equivalency, as per the latest regulations from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR).

Please ensure you follow this sequence for document attestation to comply with HUC and UAE government requirements.

Horizon University College (HUC) offers the following relocation support to new employees upon joining:

• Initial accommodation.
• Allocation of office space and necessary supplies.
• Provision of office laptops or desktops.
• Setup of official email ID and telephone extension.
• Access to internal portals and systems.
• Assistance with Emirates ID processing.
• Issuance of HUC ID, business cards, and car stickers.
• Access to office transportation facilities.

This support aims to ensure a smooth transition and help new staff settle comfortably into their roles.

• Faculty members are offered a 4-year limited contract, which is renewable.
• Staff members are offered a 2-year limited contract, which is also renewable.

Salaries for all full-time faculty and staff members are typically transferred directly to their bank accounts by the 29th of each month.

The Talent Empowerment Department (TED) assists faculty and staff members in opening a bank account. This process is typically completed within 15 days after the visa stamping is finalized.

• Passport with visa copy
• Salary certificate

HUC conducts an employment orientation for newly appointed faculty and staff members within the first week of joining. This orientation is designed to familiarize them with their roles, responsibilities, and the work environment.

Full-time faculty and staff members are not permitted to be employed or teach at any other institution. Engaging in outside employment is considered a breach of contract.

HUC observes a 40-hour workweek for all full-time academic faculty members. Working hours are scheduled across five days, with timings based on academic requirements and class schedules.

Standard working hours:

• Monday to Thursday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM or 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
• Friday: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM, 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM, or 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM (based on assigned class schedules)

Note:

• Faculty are expected to work five days per week, totalling 40 hours.
• On Fridays, faculty members are entitled to a one-hour break between 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM.
• Working hours and related provisions may be revised by the management as per HUC’s operational needs and internal policies.

HUC provides various types of leave in accordance with UAE Labour Law and institutional policy, ensuring employee well-being and work-life balance.

For Faculty Members:

The employment contract may be terminated by either the employer or the faculty member without cause by providing at least one semester (16 weeks) written notice, or payment in lieu of notice.

For Academic Support Staff:

The employment contract may be terminated by either the employer or the staff member without cause by providing at least 30 days written notice, or payment in lieu of notice.

Note: All contract terminations must comply with the terms outlined in the employment agreement and relevant UAE Labour Laws.
